Wolvey - Public Transport
New Bus Services from Wolvey to Bulkington
USE IT OR LOSE IT:
Recent changes to
bus services for Wolvey means that bus service 75 has been withdrawn and,
with it, the link from Wolvey to Bulkington. The justification for this was
that the service was only used by a small number of people. However, Wolvey
Parish Council believed this could potentially cause real difficulties for
those Wolvey residents who rely on the facilities in Bulkington.
As a result, the Parish Council began discussions with Transport
department at Warwickshire County Council.
We are now pleased to report that A
& M will include a transport link
between
Wolvey and Bulkington on both
Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
This will also give Wolvey residents
a new Tuesday Flexibus 213 to Bedworth (via Bulkington) on market day. The
bus will leave Wolvey Square at 0948. The return bus will leave Bedworth at
1244.
Flexibus 241 on Wednesdays to
Nuneaton will leave Wolvey Heath at 0950 and Wolvey Square at 0955 and will
also provide an additional link to Bulkington. It returns from Nuneaton at
1335.
There
will continue to be Flexibuses to Hinckley on Mondays
(although minor changes have been made to this route) and to Rugby on
Tuesdays.
There
is also a hospital car scheme
available to take Wolvey residents to/from local hospitals.
Anybody interested in the scheme
should contact the Rugby volunteer centre on 01788 561293 between 0930 and
1300 on Mondays to Fridays. The journey needs to be booked in advance with
as much notice as possible.
Because of the limited budget
available for transport at Warwickshire County Council, future subsidies can
only continue for services that are really needed.
So, if you want to keep bus services
for Wolvey they need to be regularly used.
Please support these as much as you
can!
The new timetables will be
introduced with effect from Monday 24th October
