Wolvey Awards 2008
Wolvey were judged to be Warwickshire's Best Village for Communication, and Warwickshire's Best Village for the Environment 2008 in the Warwickshire's Best Village of the Year Competition, and came second overall, winning a large cup and £550.
The competition is open to any group or organisation in a village with no more than 5,000 inhabitants and there are hundreds of pounds to be won. Entry is free. A village can put in as many entries for each category and enter as many categories as it likes. If it enters three or more categories it is eligible for selection as the overall winner of the competition.
Villages are judged against other villages of a similar size. The
judges look for well-balanced, pro-active, caring village communities
which have made the best of local opportunities to maintain and enhance
the quality of life for all inhabitants, irrespective of the size of the
village.
