Mulled wine, mince pies and plenty of mirth were served in the Village Hall. There were opportunities for revellers to scrutinize and comment on displays depicting village activities, a stall to purchase hand crafted gifts for Christmas, more carol singing, and to top it all a Jitterbug Demonstration, which was great fun.
The Big Switch On created a fantastic atmosphere
that enhances the sense of community and cohesion that is so prevalent in
Wolvey Village.
This event
could not take place without the willing help of local volunteers. There are
many people involved but the Parish Council would like to give particular
thanks to the following:
David & Jack Woodward (erecting the tree)
Roy Lewis (helping to decorate the tree
safely)
Members of Wolvey Environment Group
(decorating the tree)
Wolvey Church & WI choirs (for excellent
singing on the night)
Bulkington Silver Band
Sid Hindmarsh (for lighting and signs in the
square)
Ted Buswell (for delivering the flyers and
help on the night)
Alan & Marian Mitchell (for supporting the
event and switching on the lights)
Chris Day & Freda Hobley (for help with
refreshments)
Wolvey Brownies (helping with the mince
pies)
Les
Cartwright & Andrew Dixon (help on the night)
